The GREAT Barrier Reef

Amazing day!!!
Early this morning we boarded this baby:

... and headed out into the Coral Sea. 90 minutes later we landed on this little pontoon boat island in the middle of the Reef:

On the way out we were briefed on all the activities that awaited us.  There was snorkeling, scuba, helmet diving, sea bob snorkeling, helicopter tours, semi submersible diving, glass bottom boat, and even massages!

Due to the fact that it is "stinger season" (i.e. There are microscopic jelly fish that have a sting which can be fatal... No biggie....) we all had to wear Lycra bodysuits that cover us completely.

Unfortunately I don't have pictures of us with our snorkels - but as you can imagine, they were extremely attractive.

We jumped right into the sea and were greeted with the most gorgeous fish filled reef.  Including Nemo.

I didn't have an underwater camera so here are some pictures from Google:

It was amazing and the snorkeling was easy. We couldn't believe how much we saw. We had lunch, went in the glass bottom boat, relaxed (needlepointed) and then took a ten minute helicopter ride over the reef.

Photos don't do it justice but it was awesome!!

A good time was had by all:

Getting ready for dinner. I think I'll have the mixed seafood linguini for 2 with bugs!
